Nice fire truck!, January 19, 2013 By T. Gatz (Shorewood IL) This is a good sized truck for the price, and it has many nice features. Strangely, the ladder does not rotate a full 180 degrees, but that's not a concern unless you're a stickler for scale realism. I have nothing negative to say about Legos. This kit produces a nice heavy truck with all of Lego's usual innovations and imagination. It's amusing to me that the designers don't seem to understand the difference between a truck and an engine, and most of their fire related stuff is a kind of hybrid of the two, but as far as the toy goes, two thumbs up!
LEGO Continues to amaze the child and the child in me..., March 9, 2013 By oland of Gilead "To live, to love, to leave ... (San Diego) This set was a two hour build with the assistance of my 3 1/2 year old son. My son is at the age where things like LEGO'S and CRAYON'S are his world so his excitement sitting down for the build was exciting. He surprised me at how fast he put together the firemen and the wheels, he also assisted with the general build. The directions as always are very well laid out and very well illustrated. The more I build with Lego's the more inspired I am to try my own builds. Things like Buildings and vehicles seem easier to create out of thin air with the right pieces from the Lego store. Anyway, if your looking for a fast fun built or just wanting to add to your Creator/Lego City I highly recommend this set. I picked mine up on sale along with the Sanitation crew for $18 a piece. Good Luck and Have fun!
A great, fun Lego vehicle with lots of things to do, January 3, 2014 Kevin Gamble (Columbia, MO USA) - This is a really good one. Just enough pieces to make the build an interesting process - my enterprising 4.5-year-old built it all himself, with some help from me in interpreting the instructions - and a lot of fun little bits in the finished product.
The resulting vehicle is sturdy and substantial, and has a lot of different things to do:
- The front of the roof lifts off to allow the two firemen (both clearly men; Lego, this could have been an easy opportunity for a women or two neutral figures) to sit in their own seats inside. - The ladder lifts up, turns, and extends, and the firemen can hold the railing (which doesn't extend to the highest segment) or balance well by putting their feet into the rungs and leaning into it. - There's an enclosed compartment in the middle of the truck that holds a tool box with several tools, with the tools (wrench, saw, axe, etc.) also able to be clipped in various places on the outside of the truck. - There's a separate fire hydrant that can be connected to the truck with a "pumper hose" piece. - The main hose is a long-ish piece of braided cord with a nozzle on one end, that can be reeled up with a built-in reel on the side of the truck. There's a small "water spray" piece that can be affixed to the end of the hose, or to other pieces like the hydrant. - There's one oxygen mask/tank with visor that is pretty nifty, one of the nicer figure accessories I've seen. Having one for each figure would be nice, but this way everything that comes with the truck can fit in or on the truck.
So, a successful set - lots of little things to play with and is a good lookalike for the fire trucks in our town. My son really likes it..
